The Sorrowful Giant for Hua Chenyu’s Mars Concert 2

The Sorrowful Giant for Hua Chenyu’s Mars Concert

In 2018, Chinese pop icon Hua Chenyu held his spectacular Mars Concert at Beijing’s National Stadium, the Bird’s Nest. We were honored that The Sorrowful Giant, created by our team at Anka Inflatables, made its powerful appearance as one of the key stage installations. More than just a visual element, this towering inflatable sculpture embodied Hua’s deep reflections on solitude and growth.

The Sorrowful Giant was written in 2015 and featured on his second album Aliens. The song uses fairy-tale metaphors to explore real-life struggles and the alienation of individuals in society, wrapped in a psychedelic rock arrangement. Hua saw himself as the ”forgotten giant“—and concluded the piece with a haunting silence, suggesting that true healing is learning to live with the wound.

We‘re grateful to have been part of such a moving artistic expression, and remain committed to bringing creative visions into tangible form.
