At the heart of Hong Kong’s Wan Chai, where modernity meets heritage, the LTA Disco Ball transformed a central plaza into an immersive open-air spectacle.
Measuring 7 metres in diameter and composed of over 2,000 hand-mounted mirrors, this monumental inflatable structure reinterpreted the iconic 1970s disco aesthetic through a contemporary lens. Suspended high above the street and topped with a festive mistletoe, it scattered a kaleidoscope of reflections across the urban landscape — merging nostalgia, architecture, and celebration into one shimmering experience.
ANKA Inflatables was responsible for the full-scale fabrication of the inflatable structure, ensuring precision engineering, durability, and visual quality required for a large-scale public installation. Beyond its festive charm, the Disco Ball served as a spatial metaphor — reflecting the layered identities of Wan Chai’s past and future.
Featured widely across Hong Kong media, the project became one of the city’s most photographed holiday attractions in 2022, demonstrating how inflatable craftsmanship can shape both air and imagination.
