Designed by Chinese contemporary artist Chen Zhiguang and manufactured by Anka Inflatables, the inflatable soft sculpture “Ant Man” is installed at Ermalu Historical and Cultural Street, a landmark pedestrian district in Yichang.
Chen Zhiguang is known for his long-term exploration of the “ant” motif, using anthropomorphic ant figures to reflect on collectivity, labor, and the human condition. Ant Man extends this signature theme into a large-scale soft sculpture, transforming the artist’s sculptural language into a new, lightweight inflatable medium.
Set within Yichang’s historic Ermalu block, near the Liberation Road pedestrian zone, the work adds a contemporary artistic touch to one of the city’s most popular cultural and tourist areas. The installation has since become a distinctive highlight of the neighborhood, demonstrating how contemporary art and inflatable design can revitalize urban spaces.
